And in therapy, the memory is just as useful even after the alteration caused by years of rescripting. Early recollections involves asking the clients to described memories beginning in early childhood to adolescents. Usually about seven recollections. I have found that years later the client will describe the same early recollection differently. Therefore, memories are not usually exact and accurate to what really happened in the past. Also, the way the client describes the past memory currently is what is most important and relative to the therapeutic process.
